Project Manager

Confluence has an opening for a project manager.

Candidates should be experienced in managing software, web design and implementation and other- related projects and providing leadership and relationship management to a variety of clients.

The project manager is responsible for managing a wide variety of types of projects from quick web updates to multi-person, year-long development projects. Projects include end-to-end website design and implementation, requirements documentation – through-deployment of novel, custom web-based programs, website audits and assessments, and the evaluation and selection of software products to meet client needs. The project manager is backed up by the web team’s technical or creative lead or database team’s technical lead, as appropriate.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience as a project manager or team lead on software and web projects.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 3+ years professional experience in leading software / web projects with demonstrated experience in:
    • Managing teams working with a variety of technologies, from graphic design through and including open source development
    • Managing requirements / scope, timeline / schedule, deliverables, expectations, budget and other aspects of projects
    • Testing / reviewing work products against implementations and requirements in advance of client review
    • Managing and exceeding client expectations o Reviewing and communicating functional requirements for software and database development projects
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications
  • Strong leadership and task management skills with an excellent ability to prioritize and multi-task

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Experience with software development life cycles and project management methodologies
  • Nonprofit experience is not required, but is helpful
  • Basic technical understanding of how Content Management Systems work plus a working knowledge of various technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, etc.
  • Background in researching and evaluating vendor product offerings against client business needs

  • Resides in the DC-metro area and willing and able to work at our offices near Farragut West and North metros
  • Demonstrated initiative
  • Is a self-starter and works equally well independently or in collaboration with others
  • Is able to juggle multiple tasks of high importance at the same time
  • Has a proven ability to accomplish tasks quickly and works well on tight schedules
  • Has excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Possesses leadership skills to creatively solve problems by using existing processes as a guide - not as an absolute - when meeting client needs
  • Is proficient with Word and Excel

Helpdesk/Desktop Support Technician

We have an immediate opening for a help desk / desktop support technician to workclients, primarily in the Washington DC metro area.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to support requests via telephone, email, and web portal
  • Use help desk software to monitor, track, and report support requests
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows desktops and applications
  • Install, configure, maintain network devices including wireless devices
  • Configure and troubleshoot handheld devices
  • Perform routine maintenance activities such as checking backups, inspecting log files, desktop support, etc.
  • Install anti-virus, setup POP3 email accounts, upgrade operating systems
  • Troubleshoot desktop hardware and software problems
  • Document work performed
  • Maintain a high level of satisfaction from the customers in terms of the technical support received
  • Respond to help desk calls

Requirements

  • Experience deploying and maintaining Windows XP and Windows 7 computers
  • Experience configuring user accounts and email accounts
  • Experience installing desktop software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader and Acrobat, antivirus software
  • Ability to troubleshoot and remove viruses, trojans, and malware
  • Ability to troubleshoot workstations, printers, handheld devices
  • Transportation to client sites (not all clients are metro accessible)

Junior UI/UX (Front-end) Developer

Confluence is seeking a junior web UI/UX developer for an exciting, full-time position in our Creative Services department.

About You:

Ideally, you have 2-3 years of experience working with web designers cutting and coding html websites for integration with open source content management systems.

You aren't necessarily a designer, but you understand the need for absolute precision and respect for every pixel.

You're comfortable talking to a design team and a development team. While the position is within the Creative Services department, you will have plenty of interaction with our development team.

Requirements:

  • Excellent ability to expediently cut and code html templates from Photoshop files;
  • A high level of attention to detail and a thorough understanding of cross-platform and cross-browser idiosyncrasies;
  • Strong skills working with JQuery – both implementing scripts and writing/troubleshooting code;
  • Ability to code for 508 compliance;
  • History coding html emails;
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite 5;

Desired:

  • A demonstrated competency working with html 5, CSS 3 and PHP;
  • Understanding and experience working with open-source CMS (WordPress, Drupal, Joomla!, Expression Engine)

Responsibilities:

  • Coding primarily in html, css and javascript;
  • Converting final and approved Photoshop files to pixel perfection;
  • Modifying WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla templates;
  • Diagnosing and debugging issues, performing QA in a production environment.

Salary is commensurate with experience. Confluence offers a generous benefits package which includes health, dental, 401k, vacation and holidays.

Position has some flexibility with regards to telecommuting, however a location central to DC/NoVa/MD is preferred.
