CiviCRM CRM
Confluence is one of a couple dozen CiviCRM professional development partners. CiviCRM is an open source and freely downloadable Constituent Relationship Management system (CRM). CiviCRM is web-based and designed specifically to meet the needs of nonprofits. It is one of few CRM options that comes pre-integrated with open source Content Management Systems (CMSs — Joomla! and Drupal).
CiviCRM has modules that significantly extend its functionality, including:
- CiviCONTRIBUTE: Online fundraising and donor management
- CiviEVENT: Online event registration and participation tracking
- CiviMEMBER: Online signup and membership management
- CiviMAIL: Personalized email blasts and newsletters
As a CiviCRM developer, you can turn to us to:
- Evaluate whether CiviCRM is right for you
- Documentation of requirements for integrated contact, grants, volunteer, event, and/or project management via CiviCRM
- Create an implementation plan and estimate
- Customize CiviCRM to meet specific needs, such as tracking of clients or project data
- Integrate CiviCRM with other software systems
- Upgrade existing CiviCRM implementation to more current version
Thinking About CiviCRM?
We at Confluence get calls from lots of different nonprofits who see that CiviCRM is free, and so expect there to be no costs associated with their projects. But CiviCRM is "free as in kittens" and not "free as in beer". To be successful in a CiviCRM deployment, expert assistance in the documentation of your requirements, customization and configuration of the system to meet those requirements, import of data from legacy sources, and training of staff is recommended. This can and should be expected to take at least 20 and often 50 or more hours of expert assistance. For an excellent coverage of expected effort in this arena, and a comparison with Salesforce, see this slide deck "Free" as in "Kittens": CiviCRM and Salesforce.
