Confluence is one of very few certified nonprofit implementation partners of the Salesforce Foundation. Salesforce is the #1 market leader in the Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) area.
CRM systems are made to centrally manage an organization's contacts — people and organizations, their phone numbers, addresses, email, and the history of interaction. The Nonprofit Edition license is a version specifically created to address the common tasks of nonprofits, such as donor management. The rich Applications Programmers Interface (API) enables seamless integration to other systems, and the AppExchange is a listing of 821 add-ons and pre-integrated software solutions to extend Salesforce in all kinds of different directions.
Because the Salesforce Foundation makes this web-based system available for free for up to ten users to nonprofits, the value is tremendous. Additional licenses are available for 80% of the retail pricing. See the Salesforce Foundation's website for more details.
Salesforce has created a Nonprofit Starter Pack that provides nonprofit-specific functionality such as the ability to track households, donations, ad-hoc relationships between individuals and relationships between individuals and organizations. It gives nonprofits a real jump-start in their implementation.

Greater DC Cares
Confluence started working with Greater DC Cares by documenting requirements for a Salesforce pilot of the Hands-On Connect Salesforce based system, including contact (organization and individual), donor/donation management, and volunteer/event management. We also performed research and provided an assessment to integrate additional applications, including online event registration systems (Kintera and EventBrite) and online surveying (Clicktools).
